Welcome to day seven (yay!) of my Seven Days of Holiday Treats series! This is a recipe I found on Pinterest and was created by the talented food bloggers at Two Peas and their Pod. This cookie recipe is the perfect marriage between a sugar cookie and peppermint flavors; it just screams holiday!
Not only does this tiny cookie contain white chocolate chips….but it also contains peppermint M&M candies AND crushed candy canes. This sweet cookie would be great to give as a gift or take to a cookie exchange because it is unique and so very festive. The red of the M&Ms and the white of the chocolate chips play off each other nicely and look like tiny ornaments dotting the dough. The only change that I made to the recipe was decrease the amount of white chocolate chips to 1/2 c. since that was all I had left in the bag. Otherwise, everything was kept the same and the cookies turned out great!
Here is a link to the original recipe so you can try them too!
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Combine wet ingredients first, then mix in dry. Add your beautiful chocolate and peppermint pieces and stir to make sure they are well distributed. Tip: I used the bottom of my 1 c. metal measuring cup to crush the candy canes into pieces.
Using two big cookie sheets at a time spoon the dough onto the baking sheet with a cookie scoop (or small ice cream scoop) to make sure each of the cookies are the same size. I LOVE cookie scoops because they ensure that each cookie bakes evenly. The original recipe calls for 10-12 minutes cooking time; I went with 12 minutes because my scoops were (ahem) generous.
Remove cookies from the oven and cool 1-2 minutes on the baking sheet before transferring them to a cooling rack. This dough makes a lot of cookies, perfect for sharing at your upcoming family holiday gatherings! Happy holidays and enjoy!
Special THANK YOU to those of you who have followed all the recipes in my holiday treats series! Merry Christmas!
